If you are a freelancer or a beginner, I’m sure you have heard about Upwork. Upwork is the world largest and oldest freelance marketplace. Once it’s known as Odesk. Because of the high competition and low-quality freelancers, you have to go through an Upwork profile approval process. So in this tutorial, I will show you how to get approved on Upwork 2020.

Forget your profile approval, all you have to do is fill the application correctly. This application consists of 11 sections. So let’s go through step by step.

1- Expertise

First, go to Upwork signup page and signup using your email. Then confirm your email and continue to the Upwork login. In there you can see an application.

[1] In here you must enter what you expert at. That means what you are special for. For example, if you are a logo designer, you must enter “logo designing”.

[2] Put a tik on the main category that your specialty included. For the above example, it is “Graphic designing”.

[1] For this section enter your skills again. Choose only 1 or 2 of them and please no more than 5.

3- Expertise level

I hope you have experienced freelancer. So chose your level between Intermediate and Expert. Those levels have a higher chance of getting approval than beginners. The choice is totally up to you.

4- Education

If you have any kind of professional qualifications like high school, certificates, diplomas and degrees, enter every one of them. This will increase your chance of getting you Upwork profile approval.

5- Employment

I’m not an employee. But my Upwork profile gets approved. That means it is not necessary. If you are an employee, add those details in there.

6- Language

Forget your Upwork profile approval on the first time, enter your English ability as fluent. If you are good at another language, add that too. There is no limit.

7- Hourly rate

This is where you decide your price. As a new freelance to Upwork, I recommend as much as low price.

8- Overview

This is the important factor/section everyone mess up. Try to enter these details as good as possible. If you not good at English, get some help for that.

And this is the section buyers mainly focus when they came into your profile.

Tell Upwork about yourself. They want to hear everything that you are good at. Write a quite long description.

Separate your description into 3 sections. In first give a small introduction about your category. For the 2nd section write your experience, notable project you have done and companies you have work. For the 3rd tell why buyers will choose you, simply what are your unique points.

9- Profile photo

Add a professional photo of you. Do not add googled images or creepy images.

10- Location

Add you true location. No need to fake it.

11- Phone

Same as location. But this should working phone number. Sometimes you have to use this number when you are log in.
